Creative process
What an incredible experience it has been to create the soundtrack for Amarelo Banana, side by side with the brilliant director @aalexandre_sousa, throughout this past year. The process was filled with unforgettable moments including hilarious recording sessions and plenty of laughter, for a film where tension and surrealism take center stage.
Mastering
Mastering this record was one of the most difficult, yet most important, parts of the whole process. It was a privilege to work with João TheGoldenAura, opens in a new tab. His patience, dedication, and commitment to the film are truly priceless. And he’s the best person to describe the process. Here are his words:
“Mastering this album was no easy task. André’s signature style rich reverbs, rumbling low-end, and a fearless fully-committed mix with tracks already heavily processed… Shaping the stems into a more nuanced and balanced sonic experience took an effort that only friendship could carry us through this mission.”
Some scores
Most of this record came out of free explorations and recordings in the studio, where I followed instinct more than plans. Still, I carried some ideas in my head before I touched any instruments. Get in touch if you’d like access to more music from this project.
Pegadas
There were moments especially with certain themes when I felt the need to write things down first, just to hold onto the initial idea. That was the case with the second track, “Pegadas.” It begins with a repetitive, percussive rhythm/ mantra, but slowly grows into an uncertain melodic theme, which felt right for Luísa, the ambiguous character it was meant to reflect.

Tantos tombos
This song was very special because it featured contributions from several singers, some professional, others amateur. Yet each brought a unique interpretation, leaving their own fingerprint on the music

Por Aqui
This one is a piece that, although it didn’t make it into the final cut of the film, was for a long time the main theme of one of its sequences during the creative process. It remains here as a record of one of the tracks that is also part of the Amarelo Banana soundtrack collection.
